Yesterday we were invited along to Hotel Du Vin in Exeter to sample their current Celebrations Menu for Christmas 2018. The menu contains plenty of choice for people of all tastes and can be enjoyed in their contemporary new dining room. Here’s what we thought..
What’s on the Menu?
For starters, we enjoyed Christmas Cured Smoked Salmon with Pumpernickel & Spiced Pickles and a Duck Liver Parfait with Plum & Figgy Chutney. These were both lovely and just the right size for lunch. There was also the option to have Jerusalem Artichoke & Chestnut Soup or a Festive Goat’s Cheese Salad.
For mains I ordered the Free Range Turkey Ballotine with Traditional Trimmings. Diners could also opt for dishes such as Beef Bourguignon, a Cauliflower & Parmesan Crumble or Roasted Almond Sea Trout.
For dessert, there’s a Traditional Christmas Pudding, an Eggnog Panna Cotta, a Festive Pavlova or a selection of Cheeses.
Is The Celebrations Menu value for money?
A three course lunch is priced at £27.95, while the same menu can be enjoyed for dinner at £30.95; so we’ll let you decide if you consider that value for money or not. I will say that the portions at Hotel Du Vin are HUGE and the overall quality of the food was very nice. You certainly won’t be leaving hungry and I have nothing but praise for how lovely and welcoming all of the staff are at Hotel Du Vin.
Festive Afternoon Tea
Hotel Du Vin are also offering a Festive Afternoon Tea for £22.50pp. The luxury afternoon treat contains mini savouries, such as little turkey sandwiches, sweet treats like warm scones and exquisite little cakes and desserts like lemon meringue pie and crumbly mince pies.
Festive Spa Treatments
