The Elephant Restaurant
A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of visiting The Elephant Restaurant in Torquay for my 26th birthday lunch. The Elephant is run by chef proprietor, Simon Hulstone, and is somewhat unusual in marketing itself as an informal fine dining establishment. Indeed, while the decor is minimal – and reflective of the seaside and harbour outside – the menu is anything but basic. During our visit, we enjoyed dishes from a very tempting la carte menu and sampled two wines from the restaurant’s fairly extensive wine list…

Should you visit The Elephant Restaurant, Torquay?
Needless to say, I had a wonderful birthday lunch at this harbourside restaurant. The service at The Elephant Restaurant was friendly and unintrusive; and I also enjoyed the fact that they went the extra mile to take note of it being a special occasion during the booking process. The food throughout our meal was expertly cooked and the presentation was really rather beautiful, as one would expect from a Michelin Star restaurant. If you’re looking for somewhere to enjoy a special occasion in the English Rivera, and you have a little bit to spend, then you needn’t look any further.
