I’ll admit, despite spending many of my formative years in Ottery St Mary, I’ve never really thought of it as a foodie destination. However, I’m clearly a little behind the times, because it’s fair to say that the town has produced some fantastic cafes and restaurants in the past couple of years. When we popped in for lunch at The Rusty Pig last week, we finally got round to paying Tina from Samosa Lady a visit, and we’re glad we did!
Tina is on a mission to bring home style Gujarati food to the community of Ottery St Mary. Offering a variety of different flavoured Samosas at monthly community markets, as well as popular themed dinner evenings and takeaway curries to heat up and enjoy at home.
We found Tina busy at work rolling out fresh samosa dough when we paid her a visit on Friday an she explained how she does her best to combine the authentic flavours of her heritage with fresh local produce.
